Peggy Annis Hendrick-Hartung (81) of Spring Lake, NC went to rest in her heavenly home on January 17, 2024. She was born in Glen Daniel, West Virginia, the eldest daughter of Annis & Sherman Clay. She graduated from Trap Hill High School in Surveyor, WV and retired from the Civil Service at Fort Bragg. Peggy loved to read, scrapbook, traveled widely around the U.S. and experienced many beautiful places around the world with her friends. She had served as an elder, deacon, and member of multiple ministries at her church with the Flat Branch Presbyterian Women.  

Married first to Amos Hendrick, then Reginald “Rick” Hartung, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, and treasured friend to all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husbands, sisters Betty Light and Shirley Bell, son Anthony Dale (Tony) Hendrick Sr., and grandson Anthony “Scoot” Hendrick. She is survived by her daughter Carla (Gary) West; daughter-in-law Amy Hendrick; grandchildren Ash (Julie) Hendrick, Jordan West, Ashlyn Hendrick, and Megan Riggins; nephews Jeff Light & Rusty Bell; and extended family members Rachael Adkins and Nancy Barrett.  

Visitation will occur at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church from 10am-12 noon on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, followed by a funeral service honoring Peggy’s life at the church. She will be laid to rest at Fort Bragg Cemetery at 11am on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024.
