Good morning. “When can I get my COVID-19 vaccine?” It’s one of the most common questions people are asking Jennifer Green, director of the Cumberland County Department of Public Health.
Last year, Green would direct them to the department’s immunization clinic on Ramsey Street to get the shot. This year, the clinic has none to offer as the department is waiting for final federal and state vaccine recommendations before ordering any doses.
The Food and Drug Administration recently updated restrictions on who can get the vaccine. And an advisory panel with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended last week that anyone six months and older receive a COVID-19 vaccine after they consult with a physician, nurse or pharmacist, which they called “shared clinical decision-making.”
But what does that mean exactly and how does it impact Cumberland County residents? More in our lead story.
Welcome to CityView Today. A years-long, $60.6 million upgrade to the sewer system for Fayetteville, Hope Mills and Cumberland County is partially finished and is expected to be completed in 2028, Fayetteville Public Works Commission staffers told the utility’s board on Wednesday. Plus, Spring Lake commissioners held their first official meeting since the town was sanctioned by the state for being late on annual audits. The town’s finance director presented commissioners with key updates regarding Spring Lake’s financial standing.
