Good morning. A political action committee operated by Cumberland County Republicans has endorsed independent candidate Tisha Waddell for mayor of Fayetteville — a decision that has stirred unrest among some in the county GOP.
A former GOP chair has even suggested that the local Republican Party should punish members of the Independent Conservative Alliance PAC for supporting Waddell over two Republican candidates in the race. The Fayetteville primary is on Tuesday, just days away.
Meanwhile, members of the PAC are unconcerned by talk of ejecting them from the county GOP’s executive committee over allegations of party disloyalty. Read our lead story for more.
Welcome to CityView Today. The first renderings of Fayetteville’s Black Voices Museum were unveiled at a public meeting this week. The 83,000-square-foot museum, which will be on Person Street, used the hymn “Lift Every Voice and Sing” as inspiration for its four-story exhibition design. The space will have two exhibition halls, a theater, and an economic development hub, among other offerings. Plus, with major roles on Broadway and in a hit Netflix series, Molly Griggs, a Cape Fear Regional Theatre alum, is having a watershed year. Check out our latest magazine feature on the Fayetteville-raised actress below.
