A man has been arrested in a recent Fayetteville homicide, the Fayetteville Police Department announced Thursday evening. There have been five homicides to date this year in Fayetteville.

Tyrell Siermons, 30, of Fayetteville is being charged with first-degree murder in the homicide of Heather Williams.

Williams, 25, was found deceased by Fayetteville Police Department detectives in a wooded area near Newark Avenue and State Avenue on Jan. 10. She was last seen on Jan. 4 near Berkshire Road in Fayetteville, where she was observed getting into a sedan. According to police, Williams had previously been identified as a missing and endangered person by the department because she possessed a cognitive impairment with limited speech.

Siermons is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. The case remains an active investigation, police stated.
