Cumberland County Emergency Services received a check for $4,912 from South River Electric Membership Corp. for the purchase of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms to be distributed to volunteer fire departments.
Indigo Moon Film Fest to bring documentaries, narratives to downtown venues
“Black Barbie” will open the eighth annual Indigo Moon Film Fest in downtown Fayetteville beginning Friday and running through Sunday. More than 80 independent films from around the world will be featured, including dramas, documentaries, animation, student-directed works and films with North Carolina connections.
Business Notebook: Food vendors sought for planned entertainment venue
Food vendors are being sought for Fayetteville’s first food hall, an open-air food and entertainment venue being developed as Railyard FVL. Partners are being sought to operate food stalls in the entertainment venue, according to a news release. Railyard’s developers hope to recruit eight to 12 small food and beverage businesses to operate stalls.
Early voting ends Saturday in primary races for municipal office
Only two days remain for one-stop, early voting in the municipal primary election. New election laws require that voters present photo identification. Those without a photo ID can get one free at the Cumberland County Board of Elections Office.

Eggs Up Grill, a breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant, will open a location in Hope Mills in December. Located at 2951 Town Center Drive in Traemoor Village Shopping Center, the restaurant is the first Eggs Up Grill planned in the Fayetteville market for franchise partner Stephanie Poole, joined by Brittney and Lauren Poole, according to a news release.
All-American Chorus falls short in ‘America’s Got Talent’ finals
The 82nd Airborne Division All American Chorus will find out tonight if it has won the top prize in the “America’s Got Talent” competition show. And what a top prize it is: $1 million. The finals are scheduled from 9 to 11 tonight on NBC nationally and WRAL Channel 5 locally.

The All American’s got talent. That was the result for the 82nd Airborne Division All American Chorus on the “America’s Got Talent” competition show Wednesday night. The chorus was among two acts chosen to compete in next week’s finals of the NBC show.
