Timothy Bryant has been named the new CEO and general manager of Fayetteville Public Works Commission, the utility announced Friday. Bryant brings more than 25 years of utility experience to PWC and is the utility’s 10th CEO. Bryant will begin work Aug. 14, according to a news release.

Animal Services shelter at capacity; adoption fees waived through Tuesday
The Cumberland County Animal Services shelter is waiving cat and dog adoption fees through Tuesday because the shelter is currently at capacity. Cats, kittens and any dogs older than 6 months and weighing 30 pounds or more are all free to adopt.
Filing for municipal elections begins at noon Friday
Candidates can file for all municipal elections starting at noon Friday and through noon July 21, according to the Cumberland County Board of Elections. The city of Fayetteville primary election is Oct. 10, and the general election for all municipalities is Nov. 7.
Waste collection regulations on number of carts, recycling take effect
In an effort to provide Fayetteville residents with more consistent waste collection services, the city began enforcing new trash and recycling policies Saturday. The changes, which the City Council approved in January, notably limit households to two 96-gallon brown or green rollout carts per week for household waste and one 96-gallon blue rollout cart for biweekly recycling.
