Carolyn Edwards Carter (aka Cece) passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on August 7, 2026. Carolyn was born in Woodruff, S.C. on August 19, 1938, to the late J.B. & Ruth K. Edwards. She graduated from Woodruff High School and attended Cecil’s Business College. She began her work career at the Spartanburg Courthouse under the direction of Judge Williams. After moving to Fayetteville with her family in 1972, she was fortunate to be on the ground floor in developing and organizing the Fayetteville Family Life Center where she served twenty years.
She is survived by one son Bob Jr. (Gaye) of Chapel Hill; two daughters Glenda Guy of Fayetteville and Liz (Jake Wosinski) of Greensboro, and her son in law, John McFadyen. During Cece’s lifetime she endured great loss with strength, perseverance and courage. She spoke no word in anger.
She gave love and support to friends and family in times of need and set an example of goodness by the way she lived. Her children became better people by attempting to live up to her example. She was loved and respected by everyone she knew, and she will be missed by all of those lives she touched.
She will be remembered mostly for the small things she did in a great way to let those in her life know how much they were loved. Cece’s warm personality touched everyone she met, and she had a smile that would light up the room.
Cece enjoyed gardening, decorating, and cooking. Family and friends appreciated her skills in the kitchen, especially her apple raisin muffins and much more. She also was an avid walker and enjoyed going to estate sales, and church. Faith and prayer were an integral part to Cece’s life. She was active at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church for over fifty years serving on various committees. She and Bob hosted a Sunday Night Bible Study for over twenty years.
