The CityView Today segments are at 8:10 a.m. each Monday on the “Good Morning Fayetteville” show with host Jennifer Jones Rochelle and producer Kenny McClain. WFNC broadcasts over the air at 640 AM and 103.5HD2 FM, and can also be streamed via cellphones, computers and smart devices.

On Monday, Managing Editor Maydha Devarajan and I sat down with Kenny (Jennifer is off this week). Some of the things we talked about:

  • Reporter Evey Weisblat wrote a story this week on the controversy surrounding a Fayetteville Police officer who was caught on video punching his police K-9.
  • And there is another report in the works about people getting killed in drive-by shootings in Fayetteville.
  • The latest developments in the lawsuit and sexual assault charges against former high school basketball coach Thurston J. Robinson.
  • Sheriff Ennis Wright last week had an interview with CityView columnist Bill Kirby, explaining why he stopped providing deputies to serve as school resource officers in the public schools in Fayetteville, Spring Lake and Hope Mills.
  • The CityView Today daily newsletter and the monthly CityView Magazine won a combined total of 11 awards from the North Carolina Press Association.
