A new year offers the opportunity to begin again—we can set new intentions, build on previous ones, learn new skills, or even reinvent ourselves. And the Greater Fayetteville area offers many chances to do all this and more in 2026.

The “New Year, New You” magazine showcases new opportunities to grow this year, whether that’s going back to school to build on or learn a new skill, or to witness Fayetteville and Cumberland County’s continued expansion and revitalization.
Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine is opening in July of this year, and universities in southeastern North Carolina are working to expand and create programs to address the shortage of physicians and nurses in the area.
Fayetteville Technical Community College has revamped its Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Systems License Prep Course for its spring 2026 term, which starts on January 12. The course, which is geared toward service members transitioning to civilian work, provides the training necessary for aviation-focused jobs.
The Cumberland County Association for Indian People renovated its community center last year. CityView spoke with the association’s executive director Harrison Jones about the association’s goals.
Also, the Fayetteville-Cumberland Economic Development Corporation held an inaugural drone competition in Autryville in early October to help encourage defense and tech companies to expand to Fayetteville.
And in late September, the first renderings of the Black Voices Museum and Centers for Equity were unveiled by the contracted architecture firm’s principal and design director Roger Smith at Segra Stadium.
