FAYETTEVILLE, NC — David Ransdell Brady, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2026, at his home on Greengate Hill Road, surrounded by the comfort of his loved ones and his devoted wife, Hildegard Anne Brady. Born on Valentine’s Day in 1933, David spent his life in service to his country and his community. He was a proud, retired veteran of the United States Army and continued his dedication to public service through a long career as a federal Civil Service employee. David was a man of great energy and simple pleasures. An avid jogger well into his late 60s, he believed in staying active and healthy. He found peace and joy spending time outdoors, meticulously tending to his yard work and caring for his beloved animals, who brought immense happiness to his daily life. Beyond his personal hobbies, David was defined by his generous spirit. He was deeply passionate about supporting his fellow service members and youth organizations. He was a Gold Circle Member Supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and a dedicated contributor to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Moose Charities, the Wounded Warrior Project, and several others, especially one concerned about animal welfare.
David is survived by his wife of the home, Hildegard A. Brady; his son, Jason Brady and wife Karen; his grandson, Matthew S. Brady and wife Brittany; and his two cherished great- grandchildren, Isaiah and Norah Brady. He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Frances Stewart of Los Angeles, CA, and his two brothers, Norman and Billy Steward. David also has two sisters: Nancy Coyle of Corsicana, Texas, and Delores Nichols of Dallas, Texas, and a brother C.J Stewart of NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in David’s honor to one of the local veterans organizations or charities he passionately supported throughout his life.
