Devin Lee Pierce, 32, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on July 22, 2026.
Born on September 30, 1993, Devin was known for his intelligence, quiet strength, and deep
curiosity. He possessed a remarkable gift for languages, a passion for music, and a love of
playing the guitar that remained with him throughout his life.
After graduating from high school, Devin answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in
the United States Army, where he became an Arabic Cryptologic Linguist. He attended the
Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, graduating as the Distinguished Graduate of
his class in Modern Standard Arabic. Never content to stop learning, he went on to master five
additional Arabic dialects, including Moroccan and several North African dialects, enabling him
to support highly specialized intelligence missions throughout Iraq and North Africa. His
extraordinary aptitude for language, dedication to his craft, and commitment to serving his
country reflected both his intellect and his character.
Those who knew Devin will remember his quick wit, thoughtful nature, and generous heart.
Whether he was playing guitar, spending time with family, or pursuing a new challenge, he
approached life with determination and authenticity. He was deeply loved and will be
remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the person he was.
Devin is survived by his mother, Jeri Knotts, and stepfather, Brian โKeithโ Knotts; his father,
Philip Pierce, and stepmother, Amy Pierce; his brother, Austin Pierce and family; his
stepbrother, Jaden Montoya; his stepbrother, Brandon Knotts and family; his stepsister,
Christiana Knotts and family; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, fellow veterans, cherished
friends, and all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and other loved ones who welcomed him home.
A memorial service celebrating Devinโs life will be held on August 1st 2026 at 1pm at Rogers
and Breece Funeral home, and receiving family and friends up to 30 minutes prior to the
service. The family invites everyone to celebrate with food and drinks after the service at their
home, 718 Country Club Drive in Fayetteville. A portion of his ashes will be laid to rest in North
Carolina, while another portion will be interred in Texas, allowing family and friends in both
places to honor and remember him.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Devinโs legacy of service, his love of music, and the
memories he created will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved,
and never forgotten.
