Absentee ballots for most people must arrive at the county board of elections office no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.

Military voters (and their dependents) who vote absentee and Americans outside the United States who vote absentee have a different process and a later deadline for their ballots to be returned to the county Board of Elections office. More information for military and overseas voters is at ncsbe.gov/voting/military-and-overseas-voting.

People voting absentee must submit a photocopy of their ID or complete a form explaining why they cannot submit their ID.

Vote on Election Day

Election day balloting will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at voting precincts throughout Fayetteville and the towns conducting elections.

Use this online tool to look up your voter registration, view your sample ballot, and find the address of your voting precinct: vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup.

Photo ID required

Voters will be asked to present a photo ID to vote. Acceptable IDs include North Carolina driver licenses and state-issued IDs, licenses or ID cards from other states (if voter registered in North Carolina within 90 days of the election), military and veteran IDs from the U.S. government, passports, and certain other IDs.

People who do not have an acceptable photo ID may fill out a form to explain why, and then cast their ballots.

More information is at www.ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id.

Voters must be registered to cast a ballot, and their voter registrations must be updated with their current address.

Voter registration for the Nov. 4 election closed on Oct. 10. But if you missed that deadline, you can still vote early. Same-day registration is allowed at early-voting sites.

More information about voter registration, how to register, how to check your registration, and how to update your registration is at ncsbe.gov/registering.
