Gary Harold Riddle, 72, beloved brother, husband, and father passed away on July 19, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina after a brief battle with cancer.

Gary was born on September 4, 1951, in Fargo, North Dakota to the late Muriel and Harold Riddle.  The family then relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina where he grew up.  Gary graduated from Terry Sandford High School in 1970 and went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  He returned to Fayetteville, where he worked for his family’s business for 50 years.  Gary enjoyed dancing and listening to Carolina beach music along with camping and boating. His love for his family was immeasurable, he was a devoted husband to his wife of 42 years, Germaine, and a loving father to their five children.  Later in life he enjoyed watching old westerns, a good rhubarb pie, supporting his children in their endeavors and tending to his home garden with an antique tractor restored from his uncle’s farm in Minnesota.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Germaine, his son, Christopher and fiancé, Kassandra Mosley of Greenville, NC; son, Michael of the home; son, David of Charlotte, NC; son, Scott of Fayetteville, NC; and son, Glenn of the home in Fayetteville, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Gail Reid of Pinehurst, NC; brother, Jon Riddle and wife, Cathy of Fayetteville, NC; and sister-in-law, Torie Pleasants of Wake Forest, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Harold Riddle and his brother, Jeff Riddle.

Gary leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness that will continue to inspire and uplift others for years to come. He will be missed by those who knew him well.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 30, 2024, from 1:00 – 1:45 PM at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2844 Village Drive Fayetteville, NC.  A funeral mass to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 2:00 PM with Father Gregory Lowchy officiating.  Gary would have preferred to see everyone in their light summer colors.
