An argument between a Hope Mills man and an employee in the food court at Cross Creek Mall led to a shooting about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Michael William Floyd, 51, of Hope Mills, was charged with firearms and assault charges, according to a news release.

Investigators said Floyd argued with a restaurant employee, then left the mall and returned with a handgun. He entered an employee-only section of the business, and the altercation resumed, the news release said.

A gunshot was fired, but the employee was able to disarm Floyd. He left the mall again but was quickly taken into custody without incident, the release said.

Floyd is charged with discharging a firearm in an enclosed space to incite fear; possession of a firearm by a felon; second-degree kidnapping; assault by strangulation; and assault with a deadly weapon. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with no bond, the release said.
