James Bryan Sweers, 71, of Hope Mills passed away on July 31, 2024.

James was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family deeply, especially his grandchildren. He had a passion for collecting baseball cards and was an avid fan of racing, with Mark Martin being his favorite driver. James loved dancing, spending time at the beach, and fishing. He also enjoyed playing softball and was a dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Known for his big heart and kind nature, James was always honest and straightforward—what you saw was what you got with him. His love for his wife was unwavering; she cared for him devotedly over the last year and a half of his life, staying by his side until the very end. His daughter Jackie was also a constant presence during his illness, especially during the most challenging times. When things became difficult, Jackie reached out to her mother, who is a nurse, to help care for him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 5:45 to 6:45 pm. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm in the chapel with Brother Larry Chason officiating.
