James David Hall, Sr., affectionately known as David, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on August 12, 1946, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and steadfast devotion to those he loved.
David dedicated an impressive 50 years to his career as a State Farm Insurance Agent, serving his community with integrity and professionalism. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a man defined by his sweet and witty personality, always prioritizing his family above all else. His pride in his children and grandchildren was evident in every interaction, and he was cherished for his loving and respectful nature. Known for his chivalry, David took great care of his family and treated others with grace and respect.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: gardening, reading, and spending cherished moments with friends and family. His interests also included classic cars, particularly Corvettes, as well as boating, fishing, and target shooting. These hobbies reflected his appreciation for both the tranquility and excitement found in the world around him.
David was not only devoted to his family but also to his faith and community. He was a Shriner and a former Deacon at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. At the time of his passing, he was an active member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joy Hall, to whom he was deeply committed; his daughter Beth Drew and her husband Brian of Wake Forest; and his son David Hall, Jr. of Fayetteville. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Grant Hall, Ainsley Hall, Brennan Cottle, Emily Drew, and Tyler Drew, who were a source of immense pride and joy. He also leaves behind his sister Nancy Hall Clanton of Fayetteville, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beth and Jim Spence, who shared in the love and memories that defined his life.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Stoddard Foster Hall, Sr. and Edna Pearl Burris, whose memory he honored throughout his years.
The family will forever cherish the moments spent with David, remembering a man of warmth, respect, and genuine care. His legacy of love and devotion will remain an enduring light to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 2pm with Reverend Sandy Saunders and Reverend Tim Jackson presiding. The burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.
