He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Matthews; his sister, Lynette Matthews Parker; his son, Mark Matthews and wife Jennifer Matthews, and their children, Ava, Harry, and Jack; and his daughter, Kimberly Goodson and husband Joshua Goodson, and their children, Anna and Charlotte.

Kenneth will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, dedication to his family, and the positive impact he made on generations of students. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the relationships he built, and the love he shared will continue to live on in those who knew him.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse in Kenneth’s honor.
