Marvin Henry Allan Jr., 90, passed away on August 1, 2026 at Village Green Health and Rehabilitation center, under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Marvin, the son of Marvin H. Allan Sr. and Ethel McMickel Allan, was born April 27, 1936, in Harper, Iowa.
Marvin was drafted into the Army in 1954 with boot camp in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. His first assignment was at Fort Bragg, NC, which remained his home base when stationed stateside. During his service, he was part of the Airborne and Special Forces units. He retired in 1974 as a Master Sargent. After retiring, Marvin started a home improvement company until 1980, when he then opened Marvin Allan Door Co. in Fayetteville. He grew the garage door company from two employees to more than 20 employees until he sold the company to his son-in-law, Larry, in 2005. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, fellow church members, and his golf gang.
Marvin is survived by his wife Susan B. Allan; four daughters, Mary Frances Martinez and husband Larry of Arizona, Kathy Allan and special friend Phil Bouchard of Southport, NC, Kelly Autry and husband Larry of North Topsail Beach, NC, Patty Heath and husband Lee of Supply, NC; four grandsons, Allan Autry and wife Meagan, Kevin Autry and wife Aislinn, Steven Heath and wife Allison, Patrick Heath and wife Morgan; and 7 great-grand children, Tori, Rowan, Kolter, Brady, Kayce, Parker and one due in December, all of North Carolina. Marvin is also survived by two sisters, Sally Kruse, and Janice Stine; and two brothers Lon Allan and wife Linda, all of Iowa and Gene Mundt of Arizona.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother Eunice Mundt Allan, his wife Linda Lee Allan, his granddaughter, Amanda (T-bird) Allan Heinz, two brother in-laws Paul Kruse and Neil Stine and a sister in-law Ann Mundt.
Marvin was a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a former member of Highland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday August 8, 2026 at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Village Drive, with Rev. Matthew Copple officiating.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service. A private inurnment will be held at Highland Presbyterian columbarium at a later time, with Rev. Ernie Johnson presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church/Men’s breakfast (an organization that Marvin looked forward to every Saturday morning) at 2505 Village Dr, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Marvin will be remembered for his devotion to his faith, his love and devotion to his family and friends, and for his passion for golf.
