
Odessa Armstrong McMillian was born in Linden, N.C., on May 4, 1934, to the late Paul and Ellowise Armstrong Walker. She was called home on April 19, 2023.
Odessa moved to Mount Vernon, New York, at the young age of 14. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk in 1985 and as a nurse
aide at Mount Vernon Hospital and Gimbelโs Department Store. She
returned to Fayetteville in 1987 and worked at Rose’s
Department Store. Odessa attended Fayetteville Technical Community
College for business administration after which she owned her own
restaurant business. She was a loving, caring person to any and
everyone. They all addressed her as โNana.โ
Odessa was joined in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart, the
late David McMillian, on Sept. 8, 1951. From this union, four
children were born. He was preceded in death by three children, Earl, Lorenzo and Glenn McMillian, and two grandchildren, Thomasina McMillian and Tommy
Webb.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Ella Williams of
Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Earl Webb of Fayetteville and Glennaye McMillian Solon of Clinton; eight great-grandchildren, Indonesia Bonner, Thomasina Webb Bonner, Destiny McMillian, Alexus Webb, Asim Webb, all of Fayetteville, N,C; Tommy Webb of Detroit, Michigan, Jayden Tate and Travis McMillian of Client, N.C.; two great-great-grandchildren, ,Jah
โkai and Amir; two sisters, Barbara Davis and Dieann Davis of Angier, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
