A  trail system that would connect Mazarick Park to surrounding neighborhoods is among proposed improvements to be discussed at a public meeting hosted by Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation.

Residents are invited to share their input from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thusday at Smith Recreation Center, 1520 Slater Ave., a news release said.

The meeting will feature a brief presentation on options for park improvements and connections from Mazarick Park to surrounding areas, including Fayetteville State University on the east side of Glenville Lake, the release said. Parks & Recreation staff and consultants will be present to gather feedback from the public. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Residents and property owners nearby are encouraged to take a brief survey to help prioritize connections and park improvements at fayettevillenc.gov/mazaricksurvey Paper copies of the survey are available upon request, the release said.

The project builds on recent planning efforts including the Center City Parks and Trails Master Plan, which envisions a connected system of parks and greenways between Mazarick Park, surrounding neighborhoods, Fayetteville State University, Harvey F. Shaw Cross Creek Linear Park, and downtown Fayetteville, the release said.
