Retired U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Raymond M. Davis, 75, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Ray was born in Camden, South Carolina, to the late Benjamin and Bessie Davis. He was drafted into the Army directly after high school and served his country in Vietnam. He made a career of the military and retired after 22 years of service. Ray was also the owner and operator of Ray Davis Maintenance for 37 years.
Ray is survived by his wife, Pat Davis; his two sons, John and Brian; daughter, Shannon; two granddaughters, Sara and Victoria; two sisters, Juanita and Roberta; two brothers, Johnny and Jimmy; and his “adopted son” Michael Sherman.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Davis.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at Fayetteville Church of the Nazarene, 1844 Rayconda Place, Fayetteville NC 28304. The family will speak to friends following the service.
