Fayetteville Police Captain Shawn Michel Collins, 49, of Fayetteville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Shawn was born December 23, 1974, in Fayetteville, to Michel Frank Collins and Cynthia Ross Collins. He graduated from Westover High School.
Shawn was a career police officer with the Fayetteville Police Department for over 27 years and was devoted to his work and his fellow officers.
Shawn was an avid outdoorsman and had a green thumb. He loved working in his yard, watching UFC Martial Arts, taking his son, Noah on trips around the yard on the riding lawn mower, and fishing with him in the pond across from his house.
He is predeceased by his mother, Cynthia Ross Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Elizabeth Collins; children, Carley Collins, Noah Collins, Julian Wilson and Olivia Wilson; father, Michel Frank Collins; sister, Kristy Collins; niece, Jaime Stone and a host of cousins, family and friends whom he loved dearly. He was especially close to all his brothers and sisters of the Fayetteville Police Department and especially his ERT brothers who he considered his family.
