North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction Maurice “Mo” Green will visit Fayetteville’s Westover High School next week for a listening session with the public, Cumberland County Schools announced Friday. The session will take place at 6 p.m. on March 27.

The visit is part of Green’s “Mo Wants to Know” tour, a series of eight visits the superintendent is making across the state. Feedback received at these sessions, along with private meetings with stakeholders, will inform the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education’s comprehensive strategic plan.

“The strategic plan we create will advance my vision for every child in North Carolina to achieve educational excellence and for our public schools to be the best in the country,” Green said.

All parents, students, educators, school and district staff, public officials and other community members are invited to attend. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register, as the venue may reach capacity.

Participants will be asked to share their thoughts on four main questions:

  • What should we celebrate and continue in North Carolina public schools?
  • What are the challenges in North Carolina public schools and potential solutions?
  • What is your “big idea” for North Carolina public schools?
  • What are the actions you/your organization are committed to doing to enhance North Carolina public schools?

Westover High School is located at 277 Bonanza Drive in Fayetteville.
