A woman and her infant daughter were abducted after a domestic dispute led to shots being fired Friday in Fayetteville, according to police.
The 22-year-old woman and baby were found safe in Surf City and reunited with their family, the Fayetteville Police Department reported.
Damien Antwon Evans Jr., 21, who had been in a domestic relationship with the victim, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, according to a news release.
Investigators said that during an argument about 12:20 p.m. Friday, Evans fired gunshots in an attempt to intimidate the woman. They were in the area of Second Street and Lynn Avenue, the news release said.
The woman and child were not injured in the gunfire. They were forced to get into Evansβ vehicle, a dark-colored sport utility vehicle that was seen leaving the scene.
Evans is charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping; assault with a deadly weapon; assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present; communicating threats; and interfering with 911 communications, according to the news release. Β
