A Fayetteville woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 1-year-old child on Jan. 22, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Tiana Johnson, 28, of the 700 block of Blue Street, also is charged with felony child abuse, according to a news release. She is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center. 

Police officers were called to the home about 7:15 a.m. Jan. 22 and found the year-old child unresponsive, the release said.  

Emergency medical personnel were administering life-saving measures on the 1-year-old inside an EMS vehicle. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.   

The cause of death was to be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, a previous news release said. No cause has been announced.
