
The Fayetteville Woodpeckers (47-63, 17-27 second half)) broke up a no-hitter in the seventh inning and managed only three hits across the game in a 4-0 loss to the Lynchburg Hillcats (54-55, 23-21 second half) on Wednesday night at Segra Stadium.
Third-round pick Jake Bloss made his Single-A debut for Fayetteville and tossed three scoreless innings. The right-hander out of Georgetown allowed two hits and struck out four before handing the ball to Manuel Urias (L, 3-1) in the fourth inning.
Urias tossed a scoreless fourth before allowing a solo homer to Jose Devers leading off the fifth. Manuel Mejias added a three-run double in the seventh to cap the 4-0 Lynchburg victory.
On the mound for Lynchburg, Adam Tulloch (W, 4-5) started the night with five scoreless, Jack Jasiak tossed three frames, and Tomas Reyes closed it down with a zero in the ninth.ย
The series continues Thursday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Fayetteville is projected to start right-hander Ethan Pecko in his debut. Lynchburg will start right-hander Yorman Gomez (5-8, 4.90 ERA).
