A golf tournament will raise money to support a scholarship named in honor of a graduate and lifelong educator at Terry Sanford High School.

In 1945, Nancy Hedrick began classes at Fayetteville High School, the forerunner of Terry Sanford High. She went on to become a teacher and administrator at the school, according to a news release.

The Nancy Hedrick Blackmon Legacy Scholarship is awarded each year to a Terry Sanford High graduating senior who is the child or grandchild of an alumnus of the school.

Organizers of the golf tournament have a goal to raise $25,000 to endow the scholarship.

Sponsorships ranging from $150 to $2,500 are available, the news release said.

The tournament will be held at Kingโ€™s Grant Golf Club. The registration deadline is April 22. To register or for more information, go to https://www.eventcreate.com/e/nhbscholarship.
