An 11-year-old girl was shot and injured in a road-rage incident on Murchison Road on Monday evening, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
The shooting was reported about 5 p.m. Monday in the 3100 block of Murchison Road at the intersection with Pamalee Drive.
The 11-year-old was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she was reported in stable condition.
Investigators said the driver of a PT Cruiser cut two lanes of traffic in front of a white Chevrolet Silverado, nearly causing a collision. The drivers of the vehicles argued, and the driver of the Silverado displayed a firearm.
The driver of the PT Cruiser continued to block the path of the Silverado through a traffic light cycle, a news release said. The driver of the Cruiser fired multiple rounds into the Silverado, then stopped at the traffic light before entering the parking lot of a nearby business to wait for police.
He was then taken into custody.
Sadiki Serieux, 33, was charged with attempted first-degree murder; assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; and shooting into an occupied vehicle, the release said.
He is held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
