
The Fayetteville City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 433 Hay St. Here’s a summary of the agenda:
The meeting will serve as the kick-off for a visit of officials of Fayettevilleโs Sister City, Saint-Avold, France. A delegation from the city, including Mayor Rene Steiner, will be presented with a key to the city.ย
This is the 30th anniversary of the Sister Cityโ relationship, which will be celebrated with the unveiling of a street sign to rename Walter Street as St. Avold Avenue. The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Wednesdayย at Hillsboro and Walter streets.
The council also plans to discuss appointing a member of the Public Works Commission. Four applicants are being considered for a seat with a term that starts Oct. 1.ย
In addition, a number of administrative reports may be discussed Monday. If the council choses to hold off on discussing these items, they will be moved to the next work session on Oct. 2.
Administrative items include reports by City Manager Douglas Hewett on:ย ย ย
- Unaccompanied minors in city facilities.
- Reducing compliance times for code enforcement actions and dangerous building demolition strategies.
- Traffic calming measures.
