Edward Trimble Seemer, Jr., 98, of Eastover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Edward was born on March 25, 1927, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Edward Trimble Seemer, Sr., and Berthelda Williams Seemer. He attended the University of Maryland, where he met the love of his life at the school’s Valentine’s dance. After graduating, he worked as a substitute teacher while she completed her degree. The day after her graduation, they were married—and the rest was history. During their 62 years of marriage, they were apart only during the time he served in Vietnam.

Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His distinguished military career included assignments in Iceland, Paris, and Germany, and he served in both World War II and Vietnam. Following his military retirement, he continued his service to the nation as Chief of Intelligence at Fort Bragg Civil Service, where he worked for many years before retiring.

He had a lifelong love of travel, sharing many memorable trips with his family. In the 1950s, he trained War Canines, reflecting his fondness for dogs and his dedication to service. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gwendolyn Seemer, and his sister, Maryland Simons.

He is survived by his son, Steve Seemers (Kim); daughter, Tracey Tilson (Rodney); grandchildren, Michael Tilson (Rebekah) and Anna Tilson; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Leo, Eli, Rio, Ariana, and Abigail.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
