Two cold-weather shelters are opening in Fayetteville tonight for people who need a warm place to stay as the temperatures drop toward freezing, Cumberland County officials said in a news release.
One opened Monday, and the other will open Tuesday night.
The shelters are:
- The Salvation Army shelter at 245 Alexander St.Β This shelter is for single men, women and families.Β Arrive between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. tonight. People can stay until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
- The True Vine Ministries shelter, known as the J Center, at 5315 Morganton Road, will open Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.Β and close at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
The shelters will decide later whether they will be open additional nights.

As of this afternoon, temperatures were predicted to drop to 32 degrees Tuesday morning and 23 degrees on Wednesday morning.
