“Our selection process is extensive and challenging, but a career with the Fayetteville Fire Department is well worth the effort,” Capt. Stephen Shakeshaft said in the release. “We hope our latest addition of a lateral-entry incentive program will encourage current, full-time firefighters to explore career opportunities with the Fayetteville Fire Department.”
The starting salary ranges from $40,000 to $48,350 a year, depending on experience.
Firefighters who pursue associate or bachelor’s degrees may be eligible for incentive pay. They also may pursue specialty training in hazardous materials; urban search-and-rescue; fire investigation; and community risk reduction.
Specialty programs and divisions of the department include drone operations; strategic planning and emergency preparedness; and logistics, the release said.
