George Washington Boyd Jr., 86, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
George was born in LaCross, Virginia, on March 29, 1937, to the late George Washington Boyd Sr. and Louise Boyd Francis. George worked as a mason in construction before retirement and was a member of Crystal Springs Chapel in Fayetteville. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jackson Boyd, and a brother, Carl Francis. George leaves to cherish his memory James and Anita Bill, his caregivers.
He is survived by his sister, Carlene (Toye) Francis of New York, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Martin of South Carolina and Bertha Harkless (Willie) of Maryland; a special niece, Jacqueline Thompson of Maryland; and a host of other relatives and friends to include his Crystal Springs Chapel Church family.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Crystal Springs Chapel, 1400 Crystal Springs Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
Funeral services will be held at 1:45 p.m. following the visitation with Pastor Bruce Suggs officiating.
Interment will follow in Rockfish Memorial Park, 4017 Gillespie St., Fayetteville, NC 28306.
