A motorist struck and killed a 61-year-old pedestrian and fled Sunday morning on Bunce Road, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
The incident was reported about 8:15 a.m. Sunday on Bunce Road near Dusty Edge Trail.
A caller reported seeing a man lying in a field who appeared to be unconscious. Police officers and Emergency Medical Service personnel responded, and EMS workers pronounced the man deceased.
The victim was identified as Elijah Alphonso Hair, 61, of Fayetteville.
The Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the case. Officers said the driver of a dark-colored sport utility vehicle struck Hair and fled from the scene.
