Ralph Edgar White, Jr. passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born in Hertford, North Carolina, on December 4, 1940, Ralph was the son of Ralph Edgar White, Sr. and Claudia Mae White. He grew up in Suffolk, Virginia, where he developed the strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, and gift for connecting with people that stayed with him throughout his life.
After attending Chowan College and Old Dominion College, Ralph proudly served in the United States Army Special Forces. Following his military service, he began his career with Mutual of New York before pursuing his entrepreneurial dream and founding Ralph White & Associates in 1970. The firm later became White Bain Financial Services in 1988, where Ralph built lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, and friends over many decades.
In 1976, Ralph married the love of his life, Maggie White. Together they built a wonderful life filled with family, friendships, travel, and countless memories. Some of their happiest times were spent at Wrightsville Beach, a place Ralph loved deeply.
He spoke often of the many trips to the Gulf Stream with his beloved ‘A Team,’ whose friendship and adventures provided a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories.
Ralph was a longtime member of Highland Country Club, where he enjoyed golf, fellowship, and many memorable conversations in the card room with business associates and lifelong friends. Beyond his professional accomplishments and personal interests, he was deeply committed to giving back to his community. Throughout his life, he generously supported charitable causes that assisted military families, veterans, and those less fortunate.
More than anything, Ralph loved his family. He was proud of their accomplishments, treasured time spent together, and never missed an opportunity to tell others about the people he cared about.
Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maggie White, and his parents, Ralph Edgar White, Sr. and Claudia Mae White.
He is survived by his daughters, Melanie White of Leland, North Carolina, and Missy White of Charlotte, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Christian Romaine, Harrison Spiers, Layton Spiers, and Nicholas Spiers; his nieces, Allison VanPeeren and Pamela Howard; and many dear friends, colleagues, clients, and extended family members who will forever treasure his memory.
A celebration of a life well lived will be announced and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to organizations that were especially meaningful to Ralph: Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Cumberland Communityย Foundation, Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation, and The Care Clinic of Fayetteville.
