
After a Christmas weekend of low temperatures in the teens and wind chill factors in single digits, the National Weather Service forecast for the Fayetteville area calls for gradual warming this week.
New Year’s Eve will bring temperatures in the 60s — but also a 50% chance of showers, the forecast says.
At midday Monday, the temperature was just above freezing at 36 degrees at Fayetteville Regional Airport, NWS said.
Lows in the mid-20s with light wind were forecast for Monday night.
Tuesday’s high was forecast in the mid-40s, and Tuesday night is expected to bring lows in the mid-20s.
Highs around 60 are forecast for Thursday and in the mid-60s on Friday.
New Year’s Eve will have highs in the 60s with that 50% chance of rain. New Year’s Day is expected to be partly sunny with a 50% chance of showers and highs in the lower 70s, the NWS says.
