Two events scheduled next week will give the community the chance to help in the search for a new Cumberland County school superintendent.

“Your Voice, Your Leader: Superintendent Search Forum” is designed to give teachers, staff, parents and the community to let the Board of Education what they want to see in the new leader of the Cumberland County Schools.

Superintendent Marvin Connelly announced his retirement in December 2024, effective July 1.

The first will be Tuesday at Gray’s Creek High School; the second is Wednesday at Douglas Byrd High School.

“Community input is essential as we embark on this critical decision,” said Deanna Jones, chair of the board. “We want to hear from all stakeholders to ensure we select a superintendent who will best serve the needs of our students, families and staff.”

Both forums are scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Gray’s Creek High School is at 5301 Celebration Drive, Hope Mills. Douglas Byrd High School is at 1624 Ireland Drive, Fayetteville.
