
With blood donations being sent to hospitals faster than they are coming in, the American Red Cross is asking donors to give blood or platelets now to avoid a looming shortage.
The organization collected about 50,000 fewer donations than needed over the past two months, a news release said.ย
Two upcoming blood donation drives are scheduled in Fayetteville:ย
- Thursday, July 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Flow Buick-GMC-Mazda, 1945 Skibo Road.
- Monday, July 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., American Red Cross Sandhills Chapter, 807 Carol St.
Iincentives are being offered to donors, the release said.
The Red Cross is teaming up with Warner Bros. Discovery for the 35th anniversary of “Shark Week” ย and the theatrical release ofย “Meg 2: The Trench.”ย ย
Additionally, in response to the great need for blood, those who donate through July 16 will receive a limited-time bonus of a $15 gift card by email to a merchant of their choice, the release said.ย ย .
