The Fayetteville Police Department has identified a man who was found dead on Ray Avenue early Monday. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Ray Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a man who was dead, the Police Department said in a release.

Cumberland deputy injured while trying to make arrest
A deputy was injured Sunday while trying to make an arrest on a probation violation, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputy P. Hernandez was trying to arrest 32-year-old Jeffery Kyle Pomeroy of Fayetteville at the Coliseum Inn on Gillespie Street, a release said. Pomeroy had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
