The Fayetteville Woodpeckers Back-to-School Bash will return for the second year to Segra Stadium from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 11, according to a news release. School supplies, books, clothing, and shoes will be provided to kindergarten through 12th-grade students.
Admission is free and open to the public. Students must be present to receive giveaways, and all items will be on a first-come, first-served basis, the release said.ย
Guests will be directed along the first-base side of the concourse to pick up school supplies and to the Landing Deck for educational activities. Students 12 and younger can play at the Kids Zone while high school students visit the third-base side for other opportunities. The last stop behind home plate will be to pick out shoes and clothing for the new year, the release said.
Last year’s inaugural giveaway sent more than 1,000 students home with supplies to start the new school year. This year, in addition to giveaways, organizations will offer educational activities on topices such as hands-only CPR, stop the bleed and recycling, the release said.
The Woodpeckers will also have a table for information about the new Woodpeckers Sports Fund that is available to Cumberland County high school athletes.
In preparation for the Back-to-School Bash, the Woodpeckers are holding a school supply drive during the Awareness Week Homestand, Aug. 1-6. Fans can bring donations to the Birdsโ Nest Team Store, which is open from 10 a.m. through the end of each game.
