Two brothers have been charged in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man late Saturday morning at Stanberry Street and Primrose Drive near E.E. Smith High School, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Devonte Tyrell McClain, 20, and his brother, Adriane McClain, 18, both of Fayetteville, were arrested in the shooting death of Lorenzo Darnell McLaughlin Jr., 22, of Fayetteville, according to a news release.
Investigators say McLaughlin and the McClain brothers communicated on social media and the brothers drove to McLaughlin’s location. They fired gunshots at McLaughlin while he was walking in the neighborhood about 11:45 a.m. Saturday, the news release said.
McLaughlin sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Devonte and Adriane McClain are each charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy, the news release said. They were held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
