A Fayetteville man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a head-on collision on Rosehill Road early Saturday after the woman lost control of her vehicle, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Eric Manning, 59, was killed in the crash just after 6 a.m. Saturday in the 3700 block of Rosehill Road, according to a news release.

Xandrina Smith, 42, also of Fayetteville, was flown to a regional hospital with critical injuries, the release said.

Investigators said Smith was driving north on Rosehill Road in a gray 2013 Nissan Murano when she lost control of the vehicle. Manning was driving south in a 2011 Kia Sorento, the release said.

Multiple witnesses told investigators that Smith lost control of her vehicle and collided head-on with Manningโ€™s vehicle.

Manning was pronounced dead at the scene.ย

All lanes of Rosehill Road from Rutledge to Tamarack drives were blocked as investigators collected evidence. The road was later reopened.ย
