A 22-year-old Fayetteville man has been charged in the June 23 robbery of a convenience store and the June 28 robbery of a Waffle House, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Christian Jared Ashworth was arrested Friday afternoon on charges stemming from the robbery of the Circle K store at 1581 McArthur Road, a news release said.

In that case, Ashworth is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon; second-degree kidnapping; felony conspiracy; possession of stolen goods; and assault by pointing a gun.

He also was served warrants connected to the June 28 robbery of the Waffle House restaurant at 3901 Goldsboro Road in Eastover. Those charges include two additional counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, and assault by pointing a gun, as well as one count each of felony conspiracy and possession of stolen goods, the release said.

Ashworth was taken at the Cumberland County Detention Center and given a $250,000 secured bond. His first appearance in court was scheduled for Monday afternoon.
