A woman was killed in a traffic crash Monday night in the 400 block of Langdon Street, the Fayetteville Police Department said in a news release.
Rhonda Ashford, 50, the driver of one of the vehicles involved, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in the release.
On Tuesday, the department said the driver of the second vehicle in the collision has been charged with drunken driving.
Christopher Fields, 31, of Fayetteville was charged with second-degree murder; driving while impaired; reckless driving; and driving with a revoked of suspended license, according to a news release.
Fields was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $250,000 secured bond.
Additional charges may be forthcoming, the news release said.
The collision was reported at 8 p.m. Monday.
Langdon Street from Ijams Street to Edgecombe Avenue was closed Monday night but was open on Tuesday, police said.
Members of the Police Department’s Traffic Unit are investigating the collision.
