Police have arrested a man on charges of holding a woman captive at a Fayetteville motel and assaulting her over a three-day period.

Responding to a July 1 call from the Holiday Inn Express on Cedar Creek Road, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were told that a woman had been held in a room at the Red Roof Inn on Cedar Creek Road and assaulted.

Officers said the woman was bruised and had multiple injuries. She told them she had been held against her will and assaulted over the span of three days at the Econo Lodge and Red Roof Inn, according to a news release.

The woman said she was able to escape and went to the Holiday Inn to call 911. She said she saw the suspect leave the area in her car, the release said.

The woman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.ย 

Detectives with the Police Departmentโ€™s Aggravated Assault Unit identified the suspect as Michael McLaurin, 32. ย 

McLaurin was arrested on Friday, the news release said.ย 

McLaurin is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury; one count of assault by strangulation; eight counts of first-degree kidnapping; six counts of first-degree forcible rape; three counts of assault on a female; one count of habitual misdemeanor assault; one count of larceny of a motor vehicle; and one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to the news release.ย 

McLaurin was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $925,000 secured bond.ย
