Aaron "AJ" ("O.T.") Pierce

SGT Aaron Joseph Pierce (Retired), 31, of Fayetteville, NC died tragically Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in Ridgeland, South Carolina.  

AJ was born in Montgomery, AL on March 25, 1991 son to the late Jason Morris and Amy Pierce - Mynatt.  SGT Pierce joined the US Army on October 20, 2015 and served more than five years before being medically retired. After retirement he worked as a Street Sweeper. He loved his new job and often joked saying ‟Cleaning Up The City One Street At A Time”. Aaron was also proud to be a member of the ‟Street Soldierz” MC currently serving as Sergeant At Arms, and formally serving nationally as the National Road Captain. He had multiple bikes and enjoyed riding anything on two wheels.  

SGT Pierce served with the utmost distinction and received the following awards and decorations during his Military Career: Army Commendation Medal w/ C Device (4th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star, Driver and Mechanic Badge w/ Special Equipment Operator Classification. SGT Pierce was proud to be AIRBORNE ‟All THE WAY”, and was honored to serve in Iraq.

AJ is survived by the loves of his life, his wife, Alexa Lightner-Pierce & son, Apollo Jason Pierce, both of the home; his parents, Amy & Kevin Mynatt, Jimmy & Elizabeth Chavers; his sister Bailey Roman; his brother Justin Chavers; brother-in-law Daniel Roman, sister-in-law Estrella Chavers, brother-in-law Luke Lightner; In-laws Michelle & Rayford Lightner III; Nieces Ravenna & Amelia Roman; maternal grandmother, Marie Comer; his maternal grandfather L.F. ‟Chip” Pierce; his paternal aunt Tina Hale, cousins Jordan Chris McCrane, Weston Newburn, Alex Williams; great-grandmother  Betty Jo Allen; his grandparents, Cheryl Chavers and Leon Chavers, Dainise Patterson; great-uncle Harold Densmore; a brotherhood, ‟Street Soldierz” MC, nationally and of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at NZONE Social Venue, on Friday, June 10, 2022, located at 584 S. Reilly Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28314. Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM with a funeral service beginning at 12:30 PM. Repast will follow the funeral service at NZONE. Dr. Michael Mynatt will officiate the service.

A Private Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be conducted at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd. Fort Bragg, NC 28310, at a later date.
