Betsy Johnson Hospital to end labor and delivery services

Posted

DUNN — Betsy Johnson Hospital will end labor and delivery services effective Oct. 15, Cape Fear Valley Health said in a news release.

The hospital, a part of Harnett Health and the Cape Fear Valley system, has experienced declining demand for maternity services and recruitment challenges, the news release said.

Over the past few years, Harnett Health has faced a range of challenges common in the health care industry, including the COVID-19 pandemic and financial constraints, the release said.

Expectant mothers who had planned to deliver at Betsy Johnson can continue to receive care at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Harnett Health’s outpatient obstetrics and gynecology prenatal clinic will remain open, offering prenatal and postpartum care, and inpatient gynecological services will continue, the release said.

“Betsy Johnson remains dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality health care to our community,” the news release said. “We value the trust our community has placed in us, and we are exploring opportunities to enhance our services in other areas of health care delivery.”
