County reopens small business assistance application period

Cumberland County has reopened the application period for its Small Business Economic Assistance Program through July 31 to allow more small businesses to apply for assistance.

The county Board of Commissioners on June 19 approved a revised small-business assistance policy in light of the federal Treasury Department’s guidance on the American Rescue Plan, which includes revised eligibility criteria, funding guidelines, and reporting requirements, according to a county news release.

The Cumberland County Small Business Economic Assistance Program allows small for-profit businesses that faced economic hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic to apply for as much as $50,000 in financial assistance. Small businesses are defined as having no more than 250 employees at the time of the application.
