Main Event, a venue for bowling, laser tag, arcade games and other entertainment, will open its first North Carolina location at Cross Creek Mall on Aug. 9.

The company plans to hire 160 employees to fill front and back-of-house positions including servers, bartenders, dining hosts, line cooks, game and bowling attendants, and others. Candidates should complete an online application at mainevent.com/careers.

Located at 580 Cross Creek Mall, the 38,000-square-foot venue features entertainment and activities including laser tag, video games, virtual reality, 18 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, and VIP seating, according to a  news release.

Its Family Kitchen serves dishes such as Cheesy Lava Burger, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Mason Jar Cheesecake, as well as shareable Family Feasts.

Main Event also hosts birthday parties for all ages. 

“We are delighted to bring Main Event to Fayetteville, offering a unique and immersive entertainment experience that will leave lasting memories for everyone who walks through our doors,” general manager Derrick Shane said in the news release. “We look forward to adding ourselves to the growing roster of Fayetteville’s family-friendly activities, with our commitment to providing exceptional service, a vibrant atmosphere, and a wide range of entertainment options.”

FTCC Foundation receives donation from Food Lion Feeds for food pantry

Fayetteville Technical Community College Foundation has received $1,700 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in need, according to a news release.

The foundation will use the gift to purchase food and personal care items for the FTCC Food Pantry.  

“We are very grateful to the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for this generous gift that will help our students who are facing food insecurity,” said Sandy Ammons, executive director of the foundation.  

The FTCC Food Pantry opened in 2020 in response to the large number of students who were facing a loss of income because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has assisted more than 3,000 people since then, the release said.  

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation supports families facing food insecurity across the supermarket chain’s 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding those in need in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $17.8 million in grants. 

The foundation is the philanthropic arm of Food Lion, which is based in Salisbury.

Pinehurst Medical Clinic Welcomes New Endocrinology Provider to Sanford, Fayetteville  

SANFORD — Madison Cobb has joined the endocrinology team of Pinehurst Medical Clinic, serving the communities of Sanford and Fayetteville with diagnosis and treatment of endocrine diseases and metabolic disorders, including diabetes.

The team includes Drs. Brooks Mays, Olga Izotova, and Alex Bonnecaze and nurse practitioners Debra Parsons and Gail Lowery.

Cobb earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her doctorate of nursing practice from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. She has almost 10 years of clinical experience, including managing diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, pituitary adenomas, hypogonadism, adrenal insufficiency and weight management. 

As a child, Cobb’s grandfather was sick in the hospital. After witnessing the compassionate, patient-centered care he received, she says, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in health care, according to a news release.

A North Carolina native, Cobb is accepting new patients by referral at PMC – Greenway Court, located at 1413 Greenway Court in Sanford, and PMC – Fayetteville, at 1991 Fordham Drive, Suite 302, Fayetteville.

Police league's Life Skills Camp to offer recruiting day

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Police Activities League will end its Life Skills Camp with a recruiting day on July 12.

Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine recruiters will be present, along with representatives of Fayetteville Technical Community College, Fayetteville State University and the Police Department, according to a news release.

Recruiters will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. at 706 Chalmers St. near the entrance to Chalmers Pool.

The Life Skills Camp is for ages 16-18 and began with weekly sessions on June 7.

Some of the topics covered are basic automobile maintenance, cooking, finances, job resume and interviewing, and post-high school life.
