Here are the Cumberland County high school Athletes of the Week:
Mekhai Coleman, Cape Fear, football
Coleman caught a touchdown pass and ran an interception back for a touchdown in Cape Fear’s 58-0 win over Douglas Byrd. He also broke up two passes, had four tackles and played both fullback and cornerback in the game. He finished with an overall grade of 90.
Jordan Blanton, Pine Forest, golf and volleyball
Blanton had a busy week for the Trojans. In golf, she shot an 86 at Carolina Lakes. She helped lead the Pine Forest volleyball team to a crucial 3-2 win against Overhills. A libero, Blanton led the Trojans defensively with 43 digs, seven assists, two aces and a kill for the week.
